TRANSPORTATION
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
New Yorkers need robust, fast, and reliable public transportation options - and a variety of options from bikeshare to regional rail to keep us moving. But public transportation too often is seen as an amenity rather than the lifeblood of people, tourism, and our economy. It’s time to stop apologizing for public transportation and treat it as an essential public good. How can we do that?
Adequately fund the rehabilitation of public transport systems to improve reliability and resilience to climate-related threats.
Build transit extensions - rail and dedicated lane bus routes - to existing services in dense communities that have limited public transport.
Develop innovative goods-transport systems that alleviate road congestion.
